Over the Lips , Pass the Tounge, Look Out Tummy Here It Comes!

I've started experimenting with big girl foods! First I tried rice cereal and that was o.k., then Mommy mashed up some bananas and WOW they were yummy. A couple of days later Daddy gave me some yucky, mashed sweet potatoes and I made some funny faces to let him know I didn't like them. I'll take bananas over sweet potatoes any day.

Rollie Pollie
This weekend I figured out how to roll over! Now every time Mommy and Daddy lay me down on my back, I immediately roll myself over onto my belly.

Hooray! I'm 3 Months Old Today!

Today I'm 3 months old! I have grown and accomplished so much. I now weight 13 lbs. and two feet tall. I have my daddy's blue eyes and brown wavy hair. Some how I also have my great great grandmother Lisette's dimples.
I can grab toys, hold my head up in sitting and tummy positions, push myself up in tummy position, stand up when balanced upright, laugh and smile on cue. I also go to sleep in my crib and will sleep for 7 hours straight most of the time.
I love to be upright most of the time so Mommy occasionally puts me in my Bumbo seat which helps me learn to sit up and also a bouncy seat that I stand in.
This summer went by so fast but I got to experience a lot of different activities. Such as, chillaxing at the beach, boat rides, visit grand parents and great grand parents, bbq's, and I even hit a couple of parties.
Mommy and Daddy are so proud and love me so much. They smother me in lots of hugs and kisses and keep saying that I'm growing so fast.

1 Month Check-Up
I went to see Dr. Hoffman for my 1 month old check-up. I now weigh 9 lbs. 8 oz. and measure 23 inches long. The doctor was very pleased that I am growing, look so healthy, and that I am eating very frequently. Dr. Hoffman also told Mommy that her and Daddy are very lucky to have only one feeding in the middle of the night and that when I get fussy in the evening that most other babies do as well. Everything is going well and normal. At the end of the Dr. visit I received my second Hep B-5 shot which made me cry. After we left the Dr. office Mommy took me to Toys R Us and treated me to a pair of wrist rattles!

Here's me in action!

4 Weeks Old and Solo Sleeping
Busy Little Bunny

The last couple of weeks have been very busy. We had lots of visitors come to check me out including Grandma Groen, Opa Groen, Oma, The Hubers, Maddy & Liem, Grandpa Wehner, Uncle Curt and Aunt Sarah, and my Uncle Cam even flew in from Charleston to see me.
I have also been very busy with feeding every two hours, tons of diaper changes, and napping. I can focus my eyes and follow mommy and daddy, and have even started to crack a smile when daddy makes funny faces. Daddy spends time with me listening to music and singing to me when I'm cranky.
I'm getting very strong and learning to hold my head up while in sitting position but I still need a lot of work while on my tummy. I have discovered that my hands and feet are in fact attached to me and they can be useful for pushing away the pacifier (who do they think they are kidding, that's not a nipple).
Ive been hanging out with my doggy Bailey who enjoys all the napping and visitors too. He keeps a watchful eye on me and checks on me when I start to cry. Every once in a while he'll sneak up on me and slap a kiss on my head with his enormous tongue, I don't seem to mind but mommy always sends him away.
Gotta run, my diaper needs changing!
My First Bath

Mommy and Daddy gave me my first bath the second day home from the hospital as Grammy Moore stood by and snapped some photos. The bath was very scary and wet, but when it was over Daddy wrapped me in my towel and I was much happier. Since then the baths have been much more relaxing and fun with Mr. Ducky and Mr. Hippo.

Emma Lane Groen Has Arrived!

On Wednesday, July 1st, 2009 at 1:58pm Lisette & Derek welcomed the arrival of their daughter Ms. Emma Lane Groen, weighing 6lbs. 10.66 oz. and is 20.5 inches long.
Both baby and mother are very healthy and happy at home now. Lisette was in labor for a total of 20 hrs. with 3 hrs. of pushing. Emma has fell into the swing of nursing with a healthy appetite. She has been endearingly been named the "milk monster" around the house.
Daddy Derek has been very active with the care of Emma and is an expert at swaddling and diaper changes. Derek had to show Lisette how to swaddle but only he has the skills to make the perfect little burrito.

Final Notice: Past Due!
Any day now! The anticipated due date has gone and past and it feels like baby G is a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. Lisette is experiencing very frequent Braxton Hicks which are now becoming slightly painful to the belly as well as the lower back (all good signs). She has a doctors appointment scheduled for July 1st, but is very hopeful she'll need to cancel.

Nine Month Name Game
Today we finally decided on a name for baby G. However, we have elected not to unveil her name until she arrives (which will hopefully be soon). Be assured though she will not be referred to as "Baby Girl Groen" at the hospital.

Almost Time!
Well we're finally down to merely days before baby G is expected to make her debut. Lisette has gained 25 lbs. through out the pregnancy and now becomes fatigued rather quickly and is slightly uncomfortable due to her size. All which is very normal at 40 weeks. Baby is very active and healthy and things seem to be getting crowded in Mommy's belly. The doctors have predicted that she'll be approximately 6.5 lbs. at birth.
Mommy's and Baby's bags are now packed and sitting by the door. The freezer is stuffed and we've stocked up on diapers and wipes (thanks to advice from Tamie and Todd). Grammy Moore will be arriving on Wednesday from Florida to celebrate the Newlyweds (Curtis & Sarah) and welcome the arrival of baby G.
A local Pediatrician has been selected and tomorrow evening will hopefully be the last scheduled pregnancy doctor visit before delivery. We'll keep everyone posted.

Nursery

The nursery is starting to come together. Derek assembled the crib and hauled the mattress and dresser up the stairs and we both painted the walls and trim work.
We have not started decorating the walls yet, but we have plenty of time. And I'm looking for an ivory lamp with a pink or raspberry shade. When we settle on a name for her, I'll paint wooden letters of her name the same colors of the bedding and mount them on the wall or on a shelf over the crib. Little Baby G is going to have a butterfly theme for her nursery.
Week 34 Baby Shower

Lisette's girlfriends Sarah & Koren threw a fantastic baby shower on Mothers day weekend. Flowers, cake, yummy snacks, gifts, prizes, and hilarious games such as sniffing melted chocolate bars in diapers to identify them. Baby Groen received so many wonderful gifts including bibs, bath toys and towels, blankets, bottles, crib sheets, stroller, porta crib, bath seat, diaper pail, and her wardrobe is now quite extensive with sleepers, onesies, sweaters, sun dresses, matching hats, shoes, and even sunglasses. When baby G arrives she'll have to put on a fashion show. Thank you for everything!

27 Weeks and Mommys Feet Have Gone Missing
Baby and Mommy are very healthy and happy. Baby Groen has settled into her own schedule and has been practicing her high kicks starting every morning at 5 am. Then she settles down after breakfast for a long nap until 4pm when she starts kicking Mommy again to go home from work.
Daddy Derek is getting very excited for the arrival of his little girl and did an excellent job of assembling the crib with lightning speed. Nursery photos to follow shortly.

Week 22
We had a little bit of a growth spurt this week and she started kicking and squirming as well. Many say the feeling is to that of a butterfly flutter or pop corn popping, but Lisette says it's more of a goldfish feeling. Unfortunately, it's still too early to have daddy Derek feel the kicking of the tummy.

Sugar and Spice and Everthing Nice...
... that's what little girls are made of.
Today we viewed the second trimester comprehensive sonogram where we found out that Baby Groen is a going to be a little girl. She immediately let us know that we were cutting into nap time by letting out a huge yawn. Everything appears to be normal and right where it should be. Ten toes (wiggling), ten fingers, healthy beating heart, skeletal and all organs, and fluids are normal as well. Click on the images below to check out the sonogram pictures!
